A flurry of activity over the last couple of days has seen three more cast members added to the IMDb listing for next year’s Denis Villeneuve reboot of Frank Herbert’s Dune.
Even though the role of the Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV is yet to be cast, his army is taking shape. Peaky Blinders regular Paul Bullion was named as a Sardaukar soldier a few weeks ago; he is now joined by two more troops…
István Áldott – Sardaukar Soldier
My search for information about this actor has been largely fruitless. He has worked with Denis Villeneuve before, playing a Police Officer in Blade Runner 2049 and I believe he is Hungarian. He is also attached to the Terminator franchise, appearing again as a Police Officer in the latest incarnation, Terminator: Dark Fate, which was also filmed in Hungary.
Balázs Megyeri – Sardaukar Soldier
Megyeri unfortunately shares a name with a Hungarian footballer who plays in goal for a top flight Greek club. As such, my search for details about him have been even less successful. He has just finished working with writer/director Ari Aster (Hereditary) on his new film. Midsommar is a Wicker Man inspired tale of an American couple who travel to Sweden and are caught up in a pagan cult, due for release tomorrow. Look out for Megyeri in it playing the role of Harga and let me know if he’s any good.
Away from the Emperor’s forces, there has been one more name added to the list
Sharon Duncan-Brewster – No role specified
British actor Sharon Duncan-Brewster, who has been a regular feature on our television screens for years, has been cast but there is no role specified for her. She could be a Fremen or a Bene Gesserit or maybe neither. I’ll tag her in this post and see if she can give us any updates about who she’s playing. As I said, she’s got a huge back catalogue of work going all the way back to 2 Point 4 Children in 1991. She’s appeared in Eastenders, Bad Girls, Doctor Who Waking the Dead and , more recently Russell T Davies’ Years and Years. She’s also no stranger to big budget sci-fi, however, having appeared as a senator in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Another quality addition by the looks of it. Wonder who she’s playing…
As an aside, I noticed yesterday that two of my eyebrow hairs had grown a full inch longer than the others. I may be on the path to becoming a mentat.
