My ‘Children of Men’ Article

Hi there, Check out the link to my new article on Taste of Cinema. My editor changed my title; it wasn’t supposed to say ‘best’. I love the film but I hadn’t even thought whether it was the best or not, or whether that even matters. I guess editors want splashy, controversial statements. Anyway, Enjoy, […]

B is for Belize

I promise this is not going to turn into a travelogue. It’s just a coincidence that a few important places for me are between A and D. March 1999. I was all packed to go to Canada. I’d had my leaving drinks and everything. After finishing university, I had spent a couple of years working […]

A is for Austin (Blogging from A to Z)

So, I’m going to do this thing called Blogging from A-Z for April. It will involve lots of posts, some longer than others, and it will hopefully provide a look into what makes me tick. To begin with, A is for Austin. That’s not me; that’s Austin, Texas. My favourite place to go in the United […]

K is for Kyle and Kirk

My brother, as I said in my last post, has always been a great role model and hero of mine. Now I want to focus on a couple of other people who have chipped in too (without knowing it to a large degree (although I did meet one of them once and tell him so). […]

J is for John

No long-winded post this time but my big brother’s worth a letter all to himself in this alphabet of mine. He’s my hero, all the way from when we had bouncy ball battles with our Star Wars figures. Who would get the tie-fighter pilot that smelled of sweets? Who would get the C3-PO with the […]

David Lynch’s Greatest Hits

Hi there, Click the link for my new article on Taste of Cinema. It’s all about the works of my favourite director, David Lynch. Hope you enjoy it. Please share if you do. All the best, Richard http://www.tasteofcinema.com/2017/all-10-david-lynch-movies-ranked-from-worst-to-best/ As requested, some love for the Atreides dog!

Fillion vs. Glover (Birthday showdown)

Today is March 27th which, I found out a couple of days ago, is the birthday of Quentin Tarantino, Nathan Fillion and Julian Glover. I wonder if they know that they share this? Hopefully they will when I’m done. Here’s the line up: Quentin Tarantino – a great director responsible for some of the defining movies […]

Monday Music 6 – 2017

The late, great James Horner’s brilliant soundtrack for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is one of my favourites of all time. Hard to believe he was a relative unknown when he was given the gig. Here’s one of the best pieces!

Monday Music 5 – 2017

So, one of my presents this year (I’m still on about my birthday) was tickets to see Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds at the Apollo tomorrow night, courtesy of my lovely wife. As a result, this week’s Monday Music is those two doing one of my favourites: Crush. Enjoy Richard

A little something from me.

Hi there, One more post for my birthday. Here’s a little taster from Book 2, which I am currently working on. The black car sat idling by the roadside, a figure discernible at the steering wheel. Ruby strained to see through to the back seat but the angle was not good enough and she had […]
