It’s not all about Science Fiction. I thought I would take a moment out to talk about one of my other passions: American Football. In particular, to pay tribute to three people who add inspiration to my weeks. They all play for my favourite team, the Seattle Seahawks. Now, I know you’ll ask why I […]
Read more "Other inspirations"Suicide Mission theme from Mass Effect 2. A really great action piece that I had in my head when writing the flight simulator scene in The Crossing.
Read more "Monday Music (on Tuesday because I’m no good at scheduling)"So, I’m close to the end now. I’ve almost finished the first draft of my first novel. I put the first words on the page in May of last year and, after sitting on it for a while, I started in earnest last Winter. Now here I am with the nights drawing in, facing the […]
Read more "Staring over the precipice"The Phantom Menace “How Rude” I’ve noticed a lot of posts on various groups extolling the virtues of the prequels so I thought I would have another go and see how I feel about them. It seems like there’s a new appreciation out there. I first saw Episode 1 in Austin, Texas on a very […]
Read more "Rewatching Star Wars Episode 1 – Part 1"This is a new thing I thought I would try that I saw on someone else’s page. http://adammstoney.co.uk/2016/09/20/tuesday-tune-61/. To keep with the Science Fiction theme, I’m going to post a link to a piece of music every Monday that has inspired me in some way with my writing or with anything else. I thought […]
Read more "Monday Music"Season finale special Well, I’ve reached the end of Season 1. After this, I’m going to take a break for a while and concentrate on finishing my book, which I hope to have done by November. After that. I’ll probably make a start on Season 2. Episode 13 – ORAC So, after we have a […]
Read more "Rewatching Blake’s 7 – Part 7"Whether it’s skin-tight lycra, someone else’s body armour or just a dressing gown, going into space is a monumental job and requires the appropriate attire. You need to balance comfort and ease of movement with functionality and the ability to withstand the harsh conditions on strange planets where you can easily stub your toe on a polystyrene […]
Read more "Who’s the best dressed man in space?"I’d like to thank everyone who keeps reading my posts. I’ve now reached 2000 visits and 1000 visitors from 40 countries around the world. My numbers have increased month upon month since June and I am looking forward to carrying on. The first draft of The Crossing is nearly done. I am just figuring out […]
Read more "Thanks everyone"Laser beams, thrusters, explosions that you shouldn’t hear. Just three of the things that make up a great battle in space. I’m going to look at a few of the big ones. I’m not going to put them in order or anything but I will give each one an overall grade. I had to think about […]

I didn’t have very much in the way of expectation for this but found myself more and more engrossed in the premise and how it was […]
Read more "Ten great Time Travel narratives"Books, games, music, and life — filtered through the mind of a writer, drummer, and philosopher who thinks too deeply about all of it. If it moves something in your chest, I'm interested.
