Season 1 – Episode 12 – Deliverance (not starring Ned Beatty) Yay. After opening with a bizarre shot of two people in a very small spaceship, we cut to Servalan. Always a good omen. She’s laying down the law to some subordinate over the intercom about not being disturbed. Makes you wonder why she didn’t […]
Read more "Rewatching Blake’s 7 – Part 6"Firstly, just a quick note to say that I reached a big milestone this morning. When I woke up, I discovered that I’d reached 5000 hits on the website since I created it in the Spring. These have come from over 70 countries around the world. I’m immensely grateful to everyone who has come and […]
Read more "What happens next?"I was feeling in the mood for something a bit more upbeat and heroic after last week’s tearful entry. As a result, what better than Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Westworld)’s excellent theme music from Pacific Rim. A clunky, illogical beast of a film but good fun to watch. The theme music was one of […]
Read more "Monday Music (on time again)"This is a very much younger version of me at Snoqualmie Falls in the summer of 2001. It took me a long time to get there. By that I don’t mean the plane ride from Heathrow to Seattle (half an hour to transfer in Cincinatti, please, like that was ever going to work out! I […]
Read more "A Place Both Wonderful and Strange"I know, I completely forgot last week until Wednesday. I suck at remembering things like this. Anyway, this week, I have decided on this: When I wrote my piece on Time Travel narratives a few months ago, this was one of my favourite stories from Lost. The scene with Desmond and Penny on the phone […]
Read more "Monday Music (yes, I know I missed it last week)"Hey everyone, It’s been a great week. Not only have I finished the first draft of my book, been treated to an NFL game at Twickenham and now have the week off. Finally, I’ll be able to finish off my “Best dressed women in Space” article which I keep promising. On top of that, this […]
Read more "Monday Music"I went through the gentlemen a month or so ago. Now it’s the ladies’ turn. I’ve been wracking my brains and consulting family and friends about who they think should make this list. This is what I came up with. I should say up front that Paco Rabanne’s revolutionary work on a certain film is […]
Read more "Who’s the best dressed woman in Space?"Hi there, I haven’t had the chance to post anything else this week. I’m working on my ‘Best Dressed Female in Space” post which I hope to have done by the end of the week. That’ll make a nice double achievement this weekend as I’ll hopefully be finishing the first draft of The Crossing by then too! […]
Read more "Monday Music"This week it’s one of my favourites from Doctor Who: a haunting little piece from Girl in the Fireplace. Love this. It was in my head when I wrote Ashana’s backstory this weekend.
Read more "Monday Music"Waiting for the fight! I’m back on it, hopefully with enough time to finish off the Phantom Menace tonight. Where was I? Oh yes, the Pod Race is done, the ship’s repaired, Maul has been put off for now and they’re on their way Padme and Anakin share a little moment and then here we […]
Read more "Rewatching Star Wars Episode 1 – Part 2"Books, games, music, and life — filtered through the mind of a writer, drummer, and philosopher who thinks too deeply about all of it. If it moves something in your chest, I'm interested.
