Hi everyone, I’ve had another article published, not on Taste of Cinema this time but on the 25YL TV and Film website. Surprise, surprise, its Twin Peaks related. I’ve written about the European pilot episode of the series and how I view the extra scenes at the end, especially in light of Season 3. Hope […]
Read more "The Forgotten Pieces"Anyone who watches What the Haiku! will know that I can’t go more than a month without coming back to one of my favourite characters: Dick Tremayne. In his honour then, I have composed some limericks – my first attempts at this form of poetry. Limericks have a fairly strict structure in terms of rhyme […]
Read more "Are you still seeing this…? Some limericks"I’ve had this stuck in my head since Saturday night so it had to this week’s Monday Music. I had my first cinema experience of 2018 on Saturday night when I finally went to see Marvel’s Avengers – Infinity War Part 1. What a film! I was blown away by the way they brought everyone […]
Read more "Monday Music 14 – 2018"I owe this week’s Monday Music to my Dad. Growing up, I used to hear all sorts of things from the big tower system that we had at home. I used to wonder what all the buttons were for on it and I still don’t know. This is just one of those things we used […]
Read more "Monday Music 13 – 2018"After a few posts about poetry and touchy-feely stuff, I felt like getting into some movie soundtrack stuff for a change. I’ve done War films, I’ve done Westerns. I was struggling to pick another genre. Then I realised that I can do whatever I want because this is my website. Therefore, this week, I decided to […]
Read more "Monday Music 12 – 2018"Hi there, I was moved to write a poem today; not about Twin Peaks this time but something more real. We all know the spectre of depression sometimes. We all go to dark places in our minds. Those halls are all too real; labyrinthine places from which sometimes it seems hard to believe we will ever […]
Read more "Light Gathers Around a Low Place – a poem"Hi there, I had another idea for a poem and I decided to go back to that Irish verse style called Ae Freislighe (ay fresh-lee) that I did a while ago. As I explained in that post, Ae Freislighe are highly regimented and have a complex arrangement of syllables and rhymes. It has stanzas of four […]
Read more "Shelly’s Tale – a poem"It’s been a while again, but I finally got another episode of Blake’s 7 under my belt. Season 2: Episode 7 – Killer OK, first thing I notice is that this episode was written by Robert Holmes. Hopefully that means I’m in for something dark. Holmes was the man behind some of the most grim […]
Read more "Rewatching Blake’s 7 – Season 2: Episode 7"So after doing War films last week, I thought I’d go on and do another one of my favourite genres this week. Here are my top 3 opening themes from Westerns… 3- High Noon (1952) Tex Ritter scored a hit on the Country and Western charts with “Do Not Forsake Me, My Darling” on the back […]
Read more "Monday Music 11 – 2018"Had a bit of a break from Mass Effect but I’ve spent a couple of nights getting on with it and thought I would check in with another of these short posts. I decided to go back to Eos and finish things off there. I didn’t know there was anything left to finish off after […]
Read more "The Andromeda Experience – 6"Books, games, music, and life — filtered through the mind of a writer, drummer, and philosopher who thinks too deeply about all of it. If it moves something in your chest, I'm interested.
