So, today was World Book Day. Last year, I borrowed my brother’s Obi Wan Kenobi outfit. (complete with boots which were way too big for me).
This year I decided to keep it much more simple:
So, I came as Dr. Alan Grant from Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park, complete with my inflatable buddy. All stuff I found in my wardrobe at home and requiring no effort whatsoever (beyond inflating the dinosaur). I couldn’t find a red neckscarf thingy, so I looked around school. All I could find, though, was a scummy bit of burgundy felt with some crusty bits. Instead of that I opted for a red T-shirt.
As it’s World Book Day, I decided to give you a list of my favourite books, so here’s the Top 5, at least as far as I’m concerned this minute.
5. The Sparrow, Mary Doria Russell
4. Where Men Win Glory, Jon Krakauer
3.In the Heart of The Sea, Nathaniel Philbrick
2. Interview with The Vampire, Anne Rice
-
Dune, Frank Herbert
Next year, I’d like to be Paul Atreides on World Book Day. I would want to get some all blue contact lenses for the proper Fremen look, but I’d have to get myself used to them as I’ve never worn contacts before and I don’t like messing around with my eyes. I’d also have to make myself a stillsuit. Maybe an old wetsuit would be a start. That’s the plan for next year anyway.
My ‘body snatcher’ article should be published soon. I’ll send you a link when it goes online. In the meantime, feel free to check out my first two articles if you haven’t already.
