Best Romantic Lead Character (Female)

Few will agree with me on this one; it’s entirely personal and based on a massive childhood crush I had. I’m going for Emmy the blonde-haired, time-travelling Egyptian princess from 1987’s Mannequin, as played by the wonderful Kim Cattrall.

I loved that film when I was younger. Reading the reviews on Metacritic now, I can see that not everyone shared this opinion. “A film about, by and for dummies. Pitifully unfunny,” (Time Out) “It’s dead. I don’t mean it’s bad. Lots of bad films are throbbing with life. Mannequin is dead. The wake lasts 1 1/2 hours, then we can leave the theatre.” (Chicago Sun-Times)

The last one – “absolutely nothing magic to speak of, other than the spark in Kim Cattrall’s eyes.” Thank you, Empire, for validating what my ‘tweener eyes saw and loved.
